A New View…let me explain what I mean. As I said in the last issue, I spend, at least, an hour a day studying the ideas of residual income, success, goals, values, religion, and many other connected things. What I mean when I said I have a new view is just what you need to get.
This is my old view: In the year 2000 my family and I were living, what we thought was, the American dream. We owned our home, two new cars, lots of stuff, and had 3 kids. We were a young family starting out, and life was good. I was making 6 times what I was making when we got married and had a secure job with a large retail corporation. Whenever I got a raise of $50 a month, or however much, I found a debt that cost $50 a month. I thought I could have whatever I want, as long as they could finance me J. I didn’t think about savings. I didn’t think into the future. I was secure why worry. The media told me that I had to have this and I must have that. Well, I made sure that I could say I had it. I couldn’t be viewed as successful without it.
This is my new view: In the year 2003 I still have one of the biggest blessings I could ever have. My family, my wife, son, and 3 daughters. The most important things to me are that my family is close and we do things together. I never let work get in the way of that no matter what the consequences are. I view my values the same way. Next I know that what I viewed as security before is not secure at all. The only way to be secure in today’s world is to get out of debt and have multiple streams of income. The commercials and media tell me that this is the way I should be and I do my best to do the exact opposite. Did you know that the majority of millionaires today drive 2-5 year old American made cars and shop at Wal-Mart or K-Mart? (Debt to Wealth by Cumuta)
Key points: · Values: Align what you do with your key values in life. This will ensure that you love what you do. My strongest value is that I am here to help others. Well, if you can teach a person to teach a person to fish, think of what you can accomplish. I also, started this newsletters which helps people. I also make sure that I give 10% of whatever I get back to the community. The One Minute Millionaire really teaches you about this priciple. Without it you can’t be successful for any long period of time. Check out the newsletter and you’ll see a link for this book. · Goals: You must set goals that are in line with your values. If you don’t they won’t work for any extended period of time and they will not bring you the feeling of achievement you desire when you complete them. You must write down your goals, without looking at what you wrote previously, each day. Make sure you use achievable goals to start with. This will get the ball rolling and teach you to succeed. · Multiple Streams of Income: If you require $5000 a month to live on. You job provides this level of income. When you job is gone you no longer can live. You loose it all. If you have 3 streams of income each providing $1700 per month and one goes away. Times will be tight but you will make it just fine. Can you see with multiple streams of income one single source doesn’t have to replace your entire need, just part of it. · Residual Income: You can’t work 3 40 hour a week jobs. No one can. You need your streams of income to be residual at some point. Dividends, Rents, Loan payments, etc… are examples of residual income. To create residual income streams you must work for some period of time to build it, but after that time is up the stream will go on autopilot. You will be able to do occasional maintenance to keep it up and it will generate the income and even grow while you are off doing other things. Sound like the perfect world? It is. Don’t think you can have that? You can’t! But, if you are a person who believes that nothing can stand in your way when you really want something the perfect world is yours. This doesn’t mean that steams won’t dry up, that you won’t get laid off, that family problems and emergencies won’t pop up. It just means that you will be prepared to handle them.
